University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pak Matiari-Lahore Transmission Company (PMLTC) Private Limited. PMLTC has been established for undertaking the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the first 660kv Matiari-Lahore HVDC Transmission Line extended for about 886 km from Matiari, Sindh to Lahore under the CPEC arrangements. The purpose of this MoU was to initiate and carry out relevant interactions and communications between the parties for enhancing cultural exchange and relationship building between China and Pakistan.

According to the agreement, UET Lahore will dedicate a bookshelf consisting of Chinese cultural books in the main Library of the University to enhance Chinese cultural knowledge among students. Likewise, PMLTC will also place Books on Pakistani culture in the shelf space available at PMLTC offices and converter stations for the Chinese to learn about Pakistani culture. However, in the next year nominated students and faculty from UET will be able to visit converter stations on field trips, to know about how the HVDC system works, and PMLTC will offer paid/unpaid Summer Internships for three to six months duration to the Power Engineering students of Electrical Engineering Department as part of their degree requirement. Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar accompanied by Registrar UET Muhammad Asif and Acting CEO PMLTC Mr. Wang bo accompanied by Deputy GM Zou Wei signed the MoU.
