UET Lahore Strengthens International Collaboration With East China University of Science and Technology

In a significant stride towards fostering global academic partnerships, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore hosted a distinguished Chinese delegation from the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST). The visit resulted in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony, symbolizing a commitment to long-term scientific research collaboration on mutual interests.

The Chinese delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Bo-Zhong Mu, Director of the Engineering Research Center of Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery, Ministry of Education ECUST Shanghai China, included Mr. Bo Li, Board Chairman of Daging Huali Biotech Co., Ltd., and Mr. Changyu Liu, CEO of Daging Huali Biotech Co., Ltd.

Authorities from both universities agreed to collaborate on fundamental research, technology innovation, and personnel training in the fields of Biogeotechnical and Bioenergy. Key highlights of the MOU include:

Establishment of the International Joint Research Center for Biogeotechnology and Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery.

Application for international funding for joint and individual research projects.

Organization of joint seminars, conferences, and professional meetings.

Prof. Dr. Habib Ur Rehman and Prof. Dr. Bo-Zhong Mu from ECUST represented their respective institutions during the ceremony. As part of the visit, two International symposiums on Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery were held at the Vice-Chancellor's office Hosted by Dr. Fahad Rabbani, and the CERAD Conference Hall, UET New Campus hosted by Dr. Haider Ali.

The Chinese delegation visited OGRA's head office in Lahore and had meetings with experts from the Oil and gas fields of Pakistan.

The meticulous planning and execution of the visit were carried out by dedicated faculty members, including Dr. Mohsin Ali Kazmi, Dr. Haider Ali, Dr. M. Irfan, and Dr. Fahad Ali Rabbani. Special thanks were extended to Registrar UET Muhammad Asif and Director of University Advancement and External Linkages Dr. Muhammad Shafique for their valuable contributions to the success of the visit. The event concluded with a cultural excursion, showcasing the rich history of Lahore to the esteemed guests.
