International Women’s Day Observed at UET Lahore

Society of female students ZIMAL UET Lahore organized a seminar to celebrate International Women Day. The event was attended by female faculty, staff and students of the university and females from almost all walks of life. In this event various successful women participated as guest speakers and shared their success stories in their respective fields. Addressing the seminar, Capt. Kiran Captain in EME corps Pakistan Army, General Manager, Co Head Corporate and Islamic Banking HBL Sobia Chughtai, Director ORIC and Associate Professor Dr. Aqsa Shabbir, Founder of software company Desol Int. Sarah Ahmad, Associate Professor Electrical Engineering Depart Dr. Rabia Nazir, Chairperson Department of Architecture UET Dr. Munazzah Akhter, Country Manager Sales at Honsgrohe Group Hafsa Asif and Assistant Manager Sapphire Finishing Mills Limited Rimsha Nadeem stressed on success is not a bed of roses but a trail full of thorns. Only those who are sure of their success succeed in this. The speakers said that the role of women in all walks of life is undeniable and without them the dream of a developed and prosperous Pakistan cannot be realized. Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar have the clouding speech. He shared with the audience the university’s statistics on male-to-female ratio among students and teachers and how well female students have shown superior academic performance. He also talked about the life of first female nurse in the world, Rufaida Al-Aslamia, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who treated the injured Muslims during the War of Khandak and had a tent next to Masij-e-Nabawi for treating the sick and injured. At the end of event, Vice Chancellor distributed souvenirs among guests. He stressed upon the audience that they should read about the lives of role model Muslim women too.
