Sep 8, 2023 - Oct 8, 2023
Department of Textile Engineering, UET Lahore, Faisalabad Campus has successfully converted waste (used textile clothing, textile industry waste, rice straw, used tyre, paper, plastic) into value added products like carbon black, composites, smart textile, conductive inks and energy source though innovative and patent protective recycling method. Department Team is led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin and Dr. Aamir Abbas Khan for this project. Waste from textile, tyre, paper, Agro waste and plastic waste are the major source of pollution locally and internationally. While value added raw materials like carbon black, conductive inks are imported in Pakistan to cater the industry needs. However, this innovative recycling not only can control pollution from waste but indiginious development of value-added raw materials and energy source will be a great step towards sustainability and import substitution. Above innovative recycling solution is first of its kind and it has a great potential. In addition, it will have extremely positive impact on environment by waste recycling. Based on this recycling project UET-Textile department has developed Pakistan’s 1st most comprehensive Textile recycling lab with state of the art facilities supported by UET Faculty project, PSF funded project and PHEC funded project.
