China Study Centre, UET, Lahore Organised a Thought-provoking Focus Group Discussion on the Emerging Pakistan-China Culturescape  

 

Dr. Mehvish Riaz, Director, China Study Centre, UET, Lahore, organized a focus group discussion titled, ‘Pakistan China Emerging Culturescape’ on October 25, 2023. Venerable Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, graced the event as the chief guest. The deans of all the faculties, Prof. Dr. Waqar Mehmood, Director, KICS, UET faculty members who graduated from China, Dr. Muhammad Nasir Malik, Director, IB&M, Chinese instructors, and students participated in the discussion moderated by Dr. Mehvish Riaz. Mr. Muhammad Asif, Registrar, Mr. Imran Babar, Treasurer, Mr. Zargham Nusrat, Controller Exams, Mr. Abdul Hameed, Assistant Registrar (Academics), and Mr. Affan Nawaz, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor also graced the occasion with their gentle presence. Multiple aspects of cultural convergence and divergence with reference to religion, traditions, food choices, and their impact on relationship building among Pakistani and Chinese people were discussed. It was emphasized that cultural evolution is inevitable, and it is everyone’s prime responsibility to develop intercultural harmony. UET Pakistan- China Alliance was formally launched. A cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate the profound impact of CPEC also took place. Professor Dr. Habib ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, presented shields to Professor Dr. Shahid Rafique, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Humanities and Islamic Studies in recognition of his services as the former Director of China Study Centre, and resource persons of various seminars and cultural activities organized by the China Study Centre, UET, Lahore
