Ambassador of Somalia, Sheikh Noor Muhammad Hassan, Visits UET Lahore
The Ambassador of Somalia to Pakistan, Sheikh Noor Muhammad Hassan, visited the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET) and met with Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir. During the visit, he met Somali students studying at UET and listened to the challenges they faced. He stated that the strong, productive, and uninterrupted bilateral relations between Pakistan and Somalia could help promote educational exchanges between the two countries.
The Ambassador appreciated the hostel facilities and other services provided to international students at UET. He assured Dr. Shahid Munir that the embassy would assist in establishing ties between educational institutions to benefit from engineering education and shared experiences. The Ambassador emphasized that there is significant potential in the field of engineering in Somalia, which Pakistani institutions should leverage, and the embassy is taking a personal interest in this matter. Dr. Shahid Munir mentioned that UET enjoys an international reputation, which is why students from various countries are enrolled here.
The university maintains ties with both local and international institutions to provide the best education and training, enhancing technical skills. He reiterated that there is room for agreements to promote faculty and student exchanges, as well as joint research in areas of mutual interest, which would give bilateral relations clear objectives. In conclusion, the Vice Chancellor presented an honorary shield to the Ambassador.
