Lahore ( ) The students of UET Lahore have won second prize in the Edotco Infrastructure Design Competition 2021. The competition was organized by the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) together with Edotco Group Sdn Bhd (edotco). The requirement was to design the telecommunications infrastructure/tower and was open to architecture/engineering students (Undergraduate and Masters) from universities in Asia. This competition was aimed to nurture young talents in improving their efficiency in creating towers and foundations through the exploration of design creativity. The competition focused on four (4) key elements in Innovation Design, Cost Effectiveness, Functionality & Feasibility, and Environmental Friendliness.
Twenty-five (25) Universities from different parts of Asia participated in the competition. UET Lahore Team Pakistan secured second position, winning a prize of USD 1500 (Team Cambodia won first prize and Team Bangladesh won third prize) UET Lahore team comprised Abdullah Saeed, Noor ul-Huda, and Hanzala Naeem of Department of Architecture and Muhammad Ahmad of Department of Civil Engineering.
Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Vice Chancellor, UET has congratulated the team. “This is an evidence of the high quality of education provided at the UET,” said Dr Sarwar. “We remain the best value for money institution in the country,” he added.
