University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, being a torch bearer national institute in ‘Engineering Education’, is highly committed for the uplift of quality of education across the country. The University has taken the initiative for the capacity building of other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) regarding Outcome Based Education (OBE) implementation. In this context, the Directorate of Continuing Engineering Education (CEE) has planned a series of hands-on workshops for its campuses, affiliated institutions and other HEIs. Very recently, a team of experts from UET has conducted a hands-on workshop at NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research (NFC-IER), Faisalabad. Faculty members from all the departments actively participated in the workshop and discussed the concept of Outcome Based Education (OBE), implementation strategies, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), key concepts for higher order learning like Complex Engineering Problems (CEPs), Open Ended Labs (OELs) and Final Year Projects (FYPs) with reference to implementation challenges and their role for cultivating problem solving skills of engineering students. In-Charge IEFR /General Manager paid his sincere gratitude to the Vice Chancellor (Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar) for taking this initiative and supporting other HEIs. This will certainly help in improving the quality of education, and hence meet the requirements of local and global job market.
