Women Day observed at UET

Zimal Female Students Society of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized a seminar in recognition of World Women’s Day. Principal Engineering Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Seema Khalid and Chief Project and Planning Officer Pakistan Railways Ambreen Zia participated as guest speakers. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Seema Khalid told the students, "We believe in empowering women and for this purpose there is a dire need to take serious and positive actions because women are the most important part of society." She added that large number of Pakistani populations is consisting of women who are performing their duties in various institutions so it is very important that their services must be respected at all levels so that the society may become more stable.

Dr. Ambreen Zia said that the current government's legislation to protect women's rights is a big achievement which will help women to identify themselves. Advisor Zimal Society Dr. Rehana Kausar said that without the active role of women, no nation can survive, hence abandoning all outdated and discriminatory thinking would be done.

Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar expressed his appreciation in the meeting with the delegation of female teachers and students and said that proper participation of women teachers has been ensured in various committees in UET. Recognizing the struggle, courage and hard work of women in the social and economic development of the country he added that it should be brought to the mainstream for the purpose of introducing new programs so that the society could see significant change. At the end of seminar, a walk was also organized in which a large number of teachers and students participated, and honorary shields were distributed among the guests.
