Dr. Patricia Omidian, a Certifying Coordinator, Focusing Trainer and Academic Development Expert from USA, visited Institute of Business and Management (IB&M) University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore. In this session extensive discussions were held on improving the role of academia in technology commercialization and bridging the gap between science and technology.
In this context, Dr. Patricia emphasized the need to realize industry-academia collaborations and patronizing role of the state in order to achieve sustainable innovations. She said, “Student counselling is somehow a neglected area in the case of Pakistan, thus we find abundance of job-seekers rather than job providers.” She further suggested that entrepreneurial spirit among students should be enhanced through faculty development and student advising. At the end of this session Dr. Muhammad Fiaz and IB&M faculty thanked Dr. Patricia Omidian for managing time to visit UET Lahore and to share her international exposure regarding academic and curriculum development.
