Dr.-Ing. Atif Bilal Aslam ( Associate Professor )
I did my Ph.D. in the field of Sustainable Urban Development from the Faculty of Spatial Planning, TU Dortmund University, Germany in 2015 with a ‘Magna Cum Laude’ grade. More specifically, my Ph.D. research area revolved around migration and development interaction within an established framework of sustainable development. The same year, I returned to Pakistan to resume my job of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Department of City and Regional Planning, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore-Pakistan. Overall, I have a diversified academic, research, and professional profile spanning around 20 years which includes more than 10 years of teaching experience. My current research interests revolve around sustainable development, migration, urban mobility, housing, and resilience. While collaborating with international researchers, I am actively researching these areas for publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations in international conferences. I have also been successful in acquiring third-party funding for research projects both in the capacities of ‘Principal Investigator’ and ‘Co-Principal Investigator’. My professional experiences comprise non-academic assignments as well. The major non-academic organizations which I served include Military Engineer Services, Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department, Canadian International Development Agency, Daewoo City Bus Service, and the Urban Unit, Punjab. As a practicing urban planning consultant, I am also serving as a Deputy Team Lead to prepare a Master Plan for Peshawar City (1.9 million population) for sustainable and resilient urban development.
