University of Engineering & Technology UET Lahore organized a walk against Drugs in collaboration with Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH). A large number of students, teachers and staff of university participated in the walk. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain, Consultant, Anti Drug/Narcotics Campaign was special guest and Registrar University Muhammad Asif, Chairman Math Department Muhammad Mushtaq, Prof. Naleem Naz Chairperson Architect Department, Prof. Dr. Khuram Seraj, Dr. Rehana Sharif, Prof. Dr. Saleem Khan, Ms. Kubra Imtiaz, Mohsin Zulfiqar and others guests also participated. Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said, “Problems of drug addiction in our youth/students serious issues, substance use disorder continue to public health, developmental and security problems, both in industrialized and developing countries. Drug addiction is harmful not for addicted but has negative impact on the fabric of society. Innocent young people become its victims just to taste or to get rid of curiosity” he added. He further said “long term use of drugs causes permanent and harmful effects on body and mind. Our duty to stop drugs in the whole society”   Mr. Husain said “teacher is central element in the educational activities and teacher can play vital role in reforming and strengthening the education system of our society and different communities. Government of the Punjab nominated 11000 thousand focal persons on drugs in the whole province and our DATH centre provided full support and service against drug demand reduction through focal persons by international standards” He thanked Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering & Technology who fully supported and to curb drug menace in young generation.
