University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized a round table conference on “Pros and Cons of 5 Million Houses” under Prime Minister Imran Khan five million House Programme. Provisional Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmood-Ur-Rasheed participated as chief guest. Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Dean Faculty of Architecture and Planning Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Anjum including more than 50 housing experts were present at conference. The Minister said that national task force will be made which will pay its role for completing the construction of 50 lac houses. Whereas, the suggestion of making New Pakistan Housing Authority is also under consideration which will complete the all official working for developer maximum within 90 days under the one window operation. Pakistan Railways Housing Ministry and other governmental land will also be used in New Pakistan Housing Program.
Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid said, “Provision of 5 million houses on easy instalments in Pakistan is leading to the development of Pakistan. We will deliver these suggestions given by experts in this conference to concern department. While addressing to the participants, experts said, “This scheme will be for poor people who cannot afford construction cost. Extremely low cost structure will be erected. For this purpose, land will be procured from building up the central zones of towns and cities. The investors should be facilitated in the rental agreements and transaction should be done through the housing bank so that the owner can easily get the rent. At the end of conference Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid presented the souvenir to the guests.
