Dr. Sidra Farid ( Lecturer )

Dr. Sidra Farid received her Ph.D. from the NanoEngineering Research Group at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Illinois (UIC) Chicago, USA in May 2016. Her areas of expertise include design, fabrication and characterization of nanomaterials, solid-state devices and oxide based semiconductor nanowires. She received her Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore in 2009 and her BS in Electrical Engineering in 2006 from UET, Lahore.

She is a recipient of prestigious Fulbright Scholarship award in 2010 for her doctoral studies in USA. During her doctoral studies, she worked at the Center of Nanomaterial (CNM) of Argonne National Laboratory, USA as a Researcher Assistant in 2012 working on block co polymer nano lithography to fabricate hybrid PV devices. She also worked as a Graduate Research Intern in the Silicon Photonics Division of Intel Corporation, San Francisco, USA in 2013 for one year working on optical characterization of Si/Ge photo detectors (PD), avalanche PDs and gained experience in high-speed optical transceivers at 10G/25G/28G for next generation optical networks. She also worked as a Hardware Validation Intern at Facebook, California, USA in summer 2015 working on cutting-edge hardware technology for data-center applications.

She has authored various publications in high impact factor journals, conference publications and book chapters.
